Sell Out Special Events
El Tajín began as a pop-up restaurant and following on from the success of those events, we decided to open our restaurant in Montrose, Angus. Our special events in and outside the restaurant have been a real success with every night selling out. Some of the special events we have hosted include; Taste of Angus, MoFest, The Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), Mexican Independence Day, along with Arbikie Distillery Cocktail & Food Pairing Evenings.
Awards

In March 2019, we won Highly Commended for the Best Newcomer award at TheCourier.co.uk‘s The Menu Food and Drink awards! We were also shortlisted for “Restaurant of the Year” at these awards, too. We are so proud of our achievements in the short time that we have been open and over the moon that we have were recognised amongst such great company.
Recognition at Scottish Parliament
Another highlight of this year was when El Tajín was commended by MSP Mairi Gougeon at Scottish Government for our efforts in local sourcing. We are extremely thankful and honoured to have such great support and happy to share this moment with our trusted local suppliers have played a key role in our journey as a restaurant.
Community Work
We really enjoy getting out into the community to sharing our expertise in catering and languages. These events have included; cookery demonstrations at our local Farmers Markets and Angus libraries, and giving career talks to motivate pupils from Angus secondary schools into jobs in hospitality at the Taste the Industry events. We have partaking in Spanish Languages lunches with students from Lathallan School, and even hosted a Mexican art exhibition of work by Brechin High School students in the restaurant.
